Do you have sexual nostalgia?

Do you ever think about the time you had the best sex of your life – and it wasn’t with your current partner?

A poll of over 1000 people by UK sex toy retailer Love Honey found more than a third of women said their best sexual experience was in the past - but the same is not true for men.

Precisely 71 per cent of men said their favourite bedroom memory was with their current partner.

So what's behind this 'grass is always greener' mentality many women experience in their love lives?

Sex and relationships author Tracey Cox told the UK's Daily Mail that even if women experience incredible sexual chemistry with someone, it's not enough to make them stick around long-term.

"[Women] marry for more 'sensible' attributes - like whether he'll be loyal and a good father. I get lots of emails from women saying they love their husbands but fantasise about sex with their exes," Cox says.

"They don't regret not choosing them as long-term mates, but they do miss the great sex they had."

Cox said the recent popularity of erotic fiction off the back of best-seller list topper Fifty Shades of Grey could also be behind the rise of sexual nostalgia.

"Books like Fifty Shades of Grey help create a healthy sexual environment where women realise to have good sex … it's not all about sex on Saturday night in the missionary position!'"
