Jobs are like relationships. If you’re in the right one it should be fulfilling, rewarding, hard work and at the very least a good way to fill up the hours in your day that you would otherwise dedicate to Facebook.

Of course finding the right job/relationship is a process of trial and error that can take years to master. Today most women try an average of three different career paths before they settle down and commit to making something long term (in the same way that one day it will eventually dawn on all of us to give up bad boys and pick up the phone when that persistent nice guy is calling… again).

Just as you learn the good, the bad and the ugly from the people you date your career path will probably tell a similar story. Job interviews? They’re the awkward first date. Your history of successful/disastrous past relationships? That’s extensive ‘on-the-job training’ and resigning is, of course, the complicated break up (and like you’ve never had those ‘maybe one day I’ll go back’ thoughts on both occasions). Oh and your first day? Well that’s what I’m working out now...

Last month’s issue my first edition of CLEO. After spending many years editing young women’s magazines and investing the vast majority of my spare time watching Sex and The City reruns, buying things I don’t really need on Ebay and desperately trying to develop a regular gym habit I landed my dream job. I couldn’t be happier, more elated or overwhelmed to be here. In fact, I think it could be love (looks good on paper – ticks all the right boxes - definitely a long term prospect).

Besides ‘the job’ I’m a single girl right now so the most important relationships to me aren’t of the romantic nature. They are my Mum, my best friend Georgia and to be perfectly honest, my iPOD (current most played song: Time to Pretend by MGMT).

Of course I have a brand new relationship to add to that list now and that’s you. Making CLEO the perfect magazine for you is now my top priority it’s more important to me than ever finding out what happens at the end of The Sex and The City movie (and we both understand the gravity of that statement, right?). Of course any great relationship begins with honesty and trust. So don’t hold back. Tell me what you think of CLEO by doing the readers survey here www.survey.cleo.com.au
