When I first expressed an interest in the mag world, a friend who worked in the industry suggested I not even try – because it was way too hard to break in. I scored a job four weeks later. In a way it was fate. My mum worked in fashion, I loved writing and was obsessed with beauty products. Working at CLEO is amazing. Once a year we travel to an exotic location to shoot summer beauty, plus I get to see every beauty product before they hit the stores and meet the inspirational people behind the brands.

The Catsuit Challenge

In the lead up to CLEO's swimsuit trip to Miami, my cupboard was full of lust-worthy fashion items. Among the colourful bikinis were beautiful dress and kaftans for my other summer shoots. Going through the racks with my editor, Sarah, I tried to convince her of the total hotness of an all-in-one catsuit.
Me: “You HAVE to have a catsuit for summer, they are going to be huge!”
Sarah: “You? In a catsuit? I would love to see that! I dare you to wear one!”
Not convinced I would, she set me the challenge of actually wearing a catsuit outside the office (not just in the safety of our office walls). I accepted the challenge and then went one step further and rocked out not one, but two catsuits on the streets of America. The first on the main drag of Miami, Florida and the second on one of the busiest places in the world, Times Square, New York.

So here I am in full catsuit regalia – let me know your thoughts…

This Lilya catsuit is the perfect outfit for shopping in New York, cool and comfortable and just a little bit sexy! (stockist 0412 215 280)

This silky Madame Marie Catsuit can be worn with heels of flats for effortless chic (stockist 02 9280 1610)

I never thought I’d wear a catsuit with heels!

  • i luv it, you look sexy & approachable. the only quiff i have with it is the all black, you should jazz in some colour with accessories to break it up

  • I still don't know if you can pull off a catsuit because your wearing a jumpsuit, not a catsuit.

  • i hate them. I think they're hideous. My friend recently bought one, not in any way flattering.

  • Hrmm. Catsuit does not equal jumpsuit. Which is what you're wearing. not so great but atleast not as traumatic as seeing anyone in a catsuit - lumps and bumps out for all to see

  • fashion labels are now calling jumpsuit, catsuits. who cares? They're really cool! I would only wear black too!
