When our web editor Candice oh-so-quietly asked if anyone in editorial was a big fan of Rihanna and Chris Brown my hand was one of the first to shoot up.

And thanks to the gods of scheduling (my Friday night was completely free, by which I mean my only other offer was to go check out the Richard Gere romance Nights in Rodanthe) and the fact I turn unashamedly squealy for pop music, I scored tickets to the blessed event courtesy of the lovely people at Visa Entertainment.

Chris Brown was up first and I do find it quite unfair that one person can be such a good dancer, great singer and also be so fine.

He even did a saucy little number where he stripped off his shirt and did some moves that would a pole dancer blush. Sadly for Candice she chose that moment to make a break for the bathroom and missed out on all his chest-baring glory.

When Rihanna came on she pretty much roared through her set without taking a breath, her main inspiration seeming to be ‘80s rock babes like Joan Jett. She also did a cover of MIA’s Paper Planes (I like to imagine she heard it over at Jay-Z’s house while Kanye was roasting sausages on the barbies and Beyonce was making gin punch.) 

High drama ensued during the encore when Rihanna was supposed to do a duet of Umbrella with CB but mysteriously disappeared.

We all thought they’d had some sort of lovers tiff but the news report the next day revealed that she’d felt faint and had to go backstage to recuperate. Get better-etter-etter-ay-ay, Rihanna!
