I started my fashion career as an assistant in London on a monthly celebrity title called Looks. After various trips around the globe assisting my fashion director and a sea of never-ending sample returns I was finally given my own pages to style. For a few years I travelled between Australia and the UK with my nomadic husband-to-be. Upon returning to Sydney I embraced the freelance world, then joined the Shop Til You Drop team before joining CLEO as fashion director.

Armed with eight suitcases, one photographer, one digital operator, two hair and make-up artists, and a whole lot of excitement -  Marisa and I jetted off to Miami to shoot for CLEO’s annual swimsuit issue. We arrived slightly jet lagged after our 22 hour trip but it was worth it – early the next morning we awoke to blue skies, perfect sunshine and boulevards lined with palm trees.

We stayed at the luxurious Gansevoort South Hotel, right on Miami Beach. Our extra large rooms were stylish, modern and, most importantly, had huge double wardrobes to house all our clothing samples! We were also really excited about discovering our bathroom was regularly re-stocked with cult US beauty brand Cutler (amazing shampoo, conditioner and body lotions). And, just quietly, we may have taken a few samples home. You know, just to share with the rest of the CLEO team of course.

When we wanted to head poolside, we had the choice of two amazing pools. The main pool was spectacular and was all decked out in nautical tones and an amazing sea view (we used it as the back drop for our Bohemian swim shoot). At night we sipped delicious cocktails at the rooftop pool bar which was extremely popular with the party jet-setters.

We trekked across the whole of Miami in our huge retro bus nicknamed “The Scooby Doo Mystery Van”, searching for the best locations to try to capture Miami’s fun party lifestyle. In our search we found pink flamingos, cool beach huts, and a vast array of pastel architecture. Flick to our swim stories to see the results.
