Ladies, wake up and smell the status updates. A new survey has found that one in three of us will check our Facebook accounts before doing anything else in the morning.
The survey, conducted by
Lightspeed Research and Oxygen Media, has revealed that over one-third of women aged 18-34 check Facebook first thing in the morning -- even before they go to the bathroom.
But this isn’t the only strange social networking habit that women were shown to possess, with 21 per cent of 18-34 year olds being prone to check Facebook in the middle of the night.
The research also indicates that Facebook has revolutionised the dating scene, with half of single women aged 18-34 saying that there’s no problem with meeting and dating other singles they meet through Facebook. It seems the gents have similar thoughts on the issue – 20 per cent of them use Facebook as a way to “hook up”.
The online habits of over 1600 adults using social media between May and June this year were recorded for the study, which aimed to break down how often people are using social networking sites and why. Over one-third of all the study’s participants said they classed themselves as “Facebook addicts”.
It seems that for some, their online updates aren't just a reflection of their lives, but a huge part of life itself – where’s the Facebook “dislike” button when you need it?
