Having decided from an early age that I didn’t want to follow in my family’s footsteps and get a PhD, I pursued my real passion –writing. And here I am. After work experience and an internship at CLEO I was given my first full-time job in journalism, and what a way to start! Some stuff about me… I can’t drink a can of coke without tapping it three times, I’m obsessed with US politics, and I would love to one day be the proud owner of two sausage dogs called Franzle and Kaiser.

As one of CLEO’s newest members, I’m in my fourth week here at the magazine. And what a hectic few weeks they’ve been! Up until a month ago, I was the typical uni student, enjoying long sleep-ins, few commitments, and believing that six-month long holidays were the norm. Fast-forward a little and here I am, the Editorial Coordinator at CLEO.
I have to admit the idea of full-time work was a little scary at first. Having to go in on Fridays as well?! But I’d already been there four days in a row! Lucky for me, CLEO isn’t like a normal job. It’s no exaggeration whatsoever to say that hanging around here is so much more fun than I ever imagined this thing called ‘work’ would ever be. I love hearing about the latest interviews with celebs, seeing what’s in the fashion cupboard, or seeing what amazing products Beauty Editor Rach is testing. I mean, what kind of workplace has more mirrors than working black pens?
One of the many things happening here lately was when we grabbed three girls and transformed their hair into wild catwalk looks. We then got them to walk around the streets to see what reactions they would get from people walking past on their lunch breaks. Wait til you see the pics in our August issue, all three looked absolutely amazing. See, what kind of job lets you do this kind of stuff?
Anyway, as the new person in the office I’ll make it my job to let you know the latest goss, what’s happening, who we’re interviewing and all the good bits.
