Look out Ange, Leona Lewis may soon be the next A-lister to challenge the adoption record.

The 23-year-old singer said she felt a strong desire to adopt young orphans when she visited South Africa earlier in the year.

"I wanted to take home all the kids," Lewis reportedly told Britain's Daily Mirror.

"They were so cute. All of them had been orphaned because of HIV and it was heart-rending."

Lewis, whose parents both work in the community sector, said she understands there are many children out there in need of a good home.

"I definitely want to adopt," she says.

    I think that it is good that Leona Lewis has a motherly instinct. It's like my desire to provide to a woman of my desire.

    I am sure Leona has great intentions, but I think she was talking 'in the future' rather than tttoday! What is it with these celebs anyway? They remind me of Miss World Competitors "i like working with children, riding horses" and "I want world peace...blah blah blah." Lets not take what they say too seriously hey??

    I think that it is great that so many people (celebs and everyday people) are adopting. There are so many children in our world that desperately need and want a home filled with love. It is my belief that the reason more people dont adopt is the lengthy process (4 years approx) unless your a celeb and then its days/months, it is completely unfair and unjust that there is such a difference!

    adopting a child is not like buying a toy from a shop. it's a life time responsibility and commitment. She's only 23 and there's a lot more years for her to grop up and think of this things before doing it.
