I fell for mags in my final year of uni. I was hired as a student reporter for UNSW’s Blitz, where I could regularly be found popping bubble wrap, flinging miscellaneous objects at the overhead fan (then ducking for cover) and smacking my seat in order to expel the “butt dust” that had gathered there. I later volunteered at FBI radio and ACP. Not long after, I was hired as a copy editor and thus my foray into publishing began. I dig writing, singing, guitar playing and laughing at Mum and Dad.

Sometime last year, I grew a conscience about the eco-apocalypse that’s taking place right now throughout the world. Thus any chance I get to make amends and reduce my carbon footprint are pounced on like a thirsty dog to water.

This morning, I was alerted to one of the coolest gadgets around; the ecobutton. And I have little doubt the greenies among you will find it as cool as I do.
While we spend much of our waking life on the computer (checking emails, posting photos, reading news and celeb blogs), there are oft times when we step away for a quick snack, stretch or snooze, and leave the computer power on.
The ecobutton helps you save energy while you’re away from your screen. This sexy little gadget sits on your desk, illuminated, and connects via USB.
Every time you leave your computer, simply press the button and your computer will go into an energy saving eco-mode, which ensures that both your computer and monitor use the same power as when they’re shut down!
When you return, hit any button on your keyboard and your computer will snap back to precisely where you left off. Not only will this nifty little device will reduce your carbon footprint, it’ll cut your energy bills. Dare I say, it can’t get better than that.
I found this little gem on superforest.org – a totally uplifting site that delivers news of all that is sustainable – life, happiness, technology and power. Check it out.
