Being the Editorial Coordinator (Ed Co-ord if you wanna sound like you’re down with it) at CLEO is a bit of a dream. What they say is true: interning paid off for me big-time. Between all the extravagant events, writing, and admin and PA duties, I do take the time to be grateful that I get paid to discuss celebrity shenanigans on a daily basis. LOVE: sunny winter days, my family and friends, working with people I really like and making dramatic statements with short. sentences. like. these.

Hot-foot it to high tea

I often think that joining the CLEO book club was the best decision I’ve ever made because really, new books excite me more than I care to share.

My wise decision-making skills were highlighted further this month, when our book club shoot took us to The Tea Room, in the Queen Victoria Building, Sydney.

Not only did we get to enjoy the luxe surrounds, we also got to indulge in their famous high tea, and let me tell you: the word sumptuous doesn’t even cover it.

After placing our tea orders, we wasted no time becoming friendly with the food.

Stacked delicately on three-tiered authentic British silver stands were the most gorgeous looking morsels of food you’ve ever seen: brownies, shortbread, macarons (or, as our photographer’s assistant called them: ‘those burger-looking things’)…Perfectly-cut finger sandwiches, bite-size spinach pastries, miniature desserts and MASSIVE homemade scones. With the most perfect clotted cream and chunky, real jam. We were in high tea heaven.

Of course, we ate the whole lot. In record time too, I’m sure. It would’ve been rude not to, right? Barely breathing, we heaved ourselves off the seats and rolled over to the exit. The $37 fee (per person: including tea) seemed too low considering the quantity and quality of the food we’d just inhaled. If you deserve a treat (and come on, we know you do) or if someone you love deserves to be treated like a queen, get there immediately. It’s well worth it, I promise you.
