I’ve recently discovered I’ve been wearing the wrong coloured lip gloss for past 8 months. Not that there’s really any such thing as ‘wrong’ lip gloss. It’s just that I stumbled on to this shade mid last year and I’ve worn it every day since. I was on a work trip to Adelaide and I arrived in the city sans my make-up bag. I always tend to forget something crucially important whenever I board a plane as a result I did an airport-to-hotel detour to Mecca.

This is were I procured the ‘wrong’ lip gloss. It was called… ok, who knows what it was called because the name has actually rubbed off the tube from over-use so let’s just call it ‘Super Peach’ for the sake of this story. Anyway I spotted Super Peach as soon as walked in because it was new stock and it was perched on top of a fancy display unit, and I’d been told by every magazine I’d read on the five hour flight that PEACH was most certainly where it was AT in the beauty world right now. Other contributing factors to my purchase were its insane price tag (a sign of good quality, yes?) and the way the sales assistant assured me ‘it warmed up my face’ (is it possible I had jet lag?)

Anyway fast forward to last week and I’m at work without that damn make up bag again and I ask our beauty editor Rachael for a loan, and she hands me this totally inexpensive purple-edging-towards-pink Rimmel number As I apply it I realise for the first time in 8 months that I look like I have a heartbeat (ie my face finally does look warm).

Praise be to inexpensive Rimmel lip gloss… maybe we all can learn something from Kate Moss?
