Work experience at CLEO confirmed my obsession with mags and, as fate would have it, I landed a job here a few years later. After a year, I moved to madison, working in the features department for over three years before re-joining the CLEO team. No day is the same – I could be pitching story ideas, researching, interviewing or writing. Add to this endless talk about Gossip Girl, a seemingly never-ending cupcake supply, and a bunch of cool colleagues and you have yourself one happy girl.

Does anyone care that Big Brother has ended

Admittedly I'm a reality TV obsessive (some would say tragic). Australia's Next Top Model, Project Runway, Australian Idol and So You Think You Can Dance (Oz and US versions) are among my fave shows. Oh, and I watch Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (who doesn't?), The One (that show about psychics) and … The Farmer Wants a Wife (don't laugh).
"Why?" you ask. I guess I'm hooked on watching ordinary people go through life-changing experiences and all the highs and lows that come with them. Sucky, I know. But seems I'm not the only one — these shows are ratings winners for their respective networks.
In my defence, I do also watch these shows because it's my job to. Well, partly. I have to keep up with pop culture's latest offerings. And, hey, if reality TV is in, I'm right there with them, Well, not actually "with" them; I watch from home. Besides, it makes great conversational banter. "Who do you think should win Project Runway?", "How awesome is that guy's voice on Idol!", "What did you think of Natalie Bassingthwaighte as host of Dance?"
As for Big Brother, I didn't jump on that bandwagon 'til series two. I then took a four-year hiatus before tuning back in for series seven and eight. Yes, I liked the show, but when speculation that the show was coming to an end after eight years on our screens was finally confirmed, I didn't actually care. In fact, I took it quite well. Excuse the irony, but that's life — minus a show about random housemates.
Now I'm secretly hoping its axing makes some room for — yep, you guess it — new reality TV shows. How about a fly-on-the-wall Sex and the City type-show starring real 20-somethings? Miley's up for it! Any other takers?
