Ryan Gosling takes Mum to Gangster Squad premiere

Ryan Gosling hit the red carpet for the Hollywood premiere of <i>Gangster Squad</i> last night, but it wasn’t lady love Eva Mendes on his arm – Ryan brought his mum.

The 32-year-old, who stars in the 1940s-set crime flick alongside Sean Penn, Emma Stone and Josh Brolin, agreed when asked if his mum Donna was the perfect date.

"I mean, where do I start? That’s an impossible question to answer. She’s amazing!"

While Mendes, 38, couldn’t make her main man’s big night, apparently she did help by dressing Donna for the occasion.

"I’m wearing Eva Mendes. She let me raid her closet," Donna told Us Weekly on the red carpet.

Ryan's mumma couldn’t look prouder. And Ryan couldn’t look hotter in that burnt three-piece Gucci suit. Wowzers.

Gangster Squad hits Australian cinemas January 10.
