We knew they were getting serious when they bought a home together earlier this year, but we were still completely blindsided by the news this week that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had tied the knot. So how did they keep their nuptials so tightly under wraps?

PEOPLE magazine has revealed the measures taken by the very private couple to ensure no details of their wedding were leaked – and it sounds like something out of Mission Impossible.
Apparently Lively managed to take a reconnaissance trip to Boone Hall Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina, to see the location without being noticed a few weeks leading up to the big day.
The wedding cake was sourced from a local decorator, who had no idea she was baking for X-Men: Origins actor Reynolds and Gossip Girl star Lively.
"For us, we were simply working for a client like we always do," a spokesperson for the cake decorator said. "We are surprised and delighted that we were able to work with them."
Blake’s big brother Jason was one of just a few involved in planning the wedding. He told the New York Daily News how he organised transportation for his sister and her husband-to-be with their privacy in mind.
"I travelled all around the country and rented cars from out of state to keep it under wraps. I think they did a good job. It was spectacular."
Pretty much everyone involved in Blake and Ryan’s big day was made to sign a non-disclosure agreement, and mobile phones were confiscated during the ceremony and reception.
And it appears their security precautions paid off. In the days leading up to the event, some in Lively and Reynolds circles were talking about a big 25th birthday bash for Blake. In other words: no one had a clue. Well, except for some on-the-ball Charleston, South Carolina, residents.
"Somebody went and picked up a crazy amount of coffee, and said it was for a magazine shoot," said a local source. "And then, Boone Hall was closed. A few things didn't add up and eventually people figured it out."
