Jon Hamm lands first lead role in film

Does life really ‘begin at 40’, as the old adage goes? Well, some might not believe so, but US actor Jon Hamm would have to agree after being cast in his first leading film role at the age of 41.

11:21AM, May 11

Hamm has nailed several supporting roles on the big screen - including parts in The Town, Friends With Kids and Bridesmaids - since he gained popularity as Don Draper in successful US television series Mad Men.

But finally Hamm will have his chance to be the bride (not the bridesmaid, get it?) as the leading man in upcoming film Million Dollar Arm, according to entertainment industry insider website deadline.com.

The film is based on the true story of American sports agent J.B. Bernstein (Hamm), who founded an India-based reality show about cricket with the ulterior motive of scouting potential baseball players.

Million Dollar Arm has been described as a mix of Jerry Maguire and last year’s Oscar-winner starring Brad Pitt, Moneyball.

It just goes to show it’s never too late to be successful. Anyone else feeling inspired?

When he's not scoring awesome film roles, Jon has been doling out advice to teenage girls on US website Rookiemag.com. Our favourite pearl of wisdom? "Everybody farts." Watch below.
