Work experience at CLEO confirmed my obsession with mags and, as fate would have it, I landed a job here a few years later. After a year, I moved to madison, working in the features department for over three years before re-joining the CLEO team. No day is the same – I could be pitching story ideas, researching, interviewing or writing. Add to this endless talk about Gossip Girl, a seemingly never-ending cupcake supply, and a bunch of cool colleagues and you have yourself one happy girl.

I hear the weather was wet and miserable in Sydney last weekend…
I wouldn’t know first-hand. You see, I was up on the Gold Coast, soaking up the sun (the weather averaged 26ºC – yes, in winter!) and enjoying the best of the GC Bazaar. Heard of it? Now in its second year, it’s a month-long festival of ‘fashion, food and fun’ and is being touted a major drawcard to the sunshine state in June –now I know why. There are shopping tours, outdoor markets, sporting and music events and way too many cool cafes and restaurants with menus to mention – but all guarantee to tempt your tastebuds. Trust me on that one, guys. In my opinion, two things constitute a good weekend away – the shopping and the food. Add the third ‘F’ – fun – to the mix, and how can you not have a good time?

My personal GC Bazaar highlights:
Shopping

My fashion playground for the weekend was outdoor shopping centre, Pacific Fair - there are over 200 shops, including Country Road, Myer, Kookai and Sportsgirl. Harbour Town outlet centre didn’t disappoint, either – as my new angle boots, denim jacket and LBD will tell you. Go to www.pacificfair.com.au and www.harbourtown.com.au
Jet Boating
If you’re a bit of a thrill seeker, I’d definitely recommend this. Oh, I’d also recommend a raincoat (don’t worry, they’re supplied). There’s much fun to be had – but hold on tight! Check out www.paradisejetboating.com.au
Q1
The iconic Gold Coast landmark is the world’s tallest residential tower - 322.5 metres high! We took in the 360 degree views of the surf, hinterland and beyond, while sipping on cocktails at sunset. What a view! Go to www.qdeck.com.au
Gold Coast Turf Club
What’s not to love about a day at the races - particularly when a new frock (see above), winning ticket and (lots of) champagne is involved! Check out www.goldcoastturf.com.au
