We all know the impact of the Global Financial Crisis (better known as GFC) is far- reaching, but experts are now saying that credit crunch may also affect the way we look at men.
Salt, author of Man Drought, says he's expecting a shift in the qualities of a desired male as the economy worsens.
"During the downturn the theory is that women are concerned about safety, security, food supply and so their taste in men will shift from the androgynous hairless metrosexual towards the more muscular primal hairy male," he said.
He also thinks that tradesmen will become more popular with women because of their muscular physique and their growing financial independence from having their own businesses.
Salt analysed this year's Bachelor contestants and concluded that the men who made it into the shortlist are taller and younger compared to Bachelor contestants in the first CLEO Bachelor competition back in 1986.
He also noted that the 2009 Bachelors are more "sexualised" than their predecessors, reflecting the fact that modern women are "more emancipated" and have more confidence in expressing what they want.
