According to elite dating website BeautifulPeople.com, British people are among the ugliest people in the world.
The controversial dating website for "beautiful people only" has revealed that fewer than one in eight British men and only three in 20 women who have applied to
BeautifulPeople.com have been accepted as members, reported UK's
Telegraph.
To join, potential members are required to upload a recent photo and a brief personal profile. Their attractiveness is then rated by existing members of the opposite sex over a 48 hour period – putting them in the categories of "Yes definitely," "Hmm yes, O.K," "Hmm no, not really" and "No definitely not."
On average, only one in five people have been successful in their applications.
The site was founded in Denmark back in 2002 and was launched across the globe last month. Since then, over 1.8 million people from 190 countries have already been rejected, with only 360,000 new members admitted to the "beautiful" club.
Swedish men are proving to be the most successful, with 65 percent applicants being accepted, while Norwegian women are considered the most beautiful with 76 percent accepted.
Only Russian and Polish male applicants fared worse than British men, due mainly to the "stern"-looking images they have been submitting.
Beautiful People managing director Greg Hodge (who is, ironically, British) attributes the low success rate of Brits to their laid back nature.
"I would say Britain is stumbling because they don't spend as much time polishing up their appearance and they are letting themselves down on physical fitness," he told
Reuters. "Next to Brazilian and Scandinavian beauties, British people just aren't as toned or glamorous."
Frankly, we're not too convinced by the website's perception of beauty. And here's our argument summed up in two words:
Robert. Pattinson.
