Being the Editorial Coordinator (Ed Co-ord if you wanna sound like you’re down with it) at CLEO is a bit of a dream. What they say is true: interning paid off for me big-time. Between all the extravagant events, writing, and admin and PA duties, I do take the time to be grateful that I get paid to discuss celebrity shenanigans on a daily basis. LOVE: sunny winter days, my family and friends, working with people I really like and making dramatic statements with short. sentences. like. these.

When All-American Rejects song, ‘Gives You Hell’ was released, I decided the band wasn’t my cup of musical tea.

Yet, for reasons unbeknownst to me, I readily accepted two tickets to their live (and very intimate!) performance at The Chapel (Paddington Uniting Church, Sydney) last week, thanks to Kia Soul.

No allocation (love it!) meant we were able to end up in what was essentially the front row – behind the teenage diehards, but only a metre from the divine frontman, Tyson Ritter.

It was about when he opened his mouth to sing the first words that I started to eat my own. The guy can sing! He’s incredibly sexy and ridiculously talented. I’m not sure if it was Tyson’s mesmerising eyes, or the fact that I was standing in the gospel section of the chapel, but by end, I was singing along with more enthusiasm than any of those so-called fans up the front.

The All-American Rejects put on an awesome show, and the Chapel provides the perfect venue for it. Hands down, best concert I’ve ever been to – and I’ve been to a lot!
