We caught up with electro-pop queen La Roux for her top beauty and styling tips!
Who influences your style?
I take inspiration from all types of people and places. But in terms of style icons, I’d have to say it would have to be David Bowie, Prince and Annie Lennox.
Who is your favourite fashion designer?
I have a few. I love [Christian] Lacroix, Alexander McQueen, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Basso & Brooke.
Favourite city for shopping and why?
I love shopping in New York. It’s so diverse and has amazing array of vintage flea markets.
Tell us about your beauty style?
It’s all about creating a flawless base. I use Kiehl's mircro-dermabrasion exfoliator to keep my skin in good condition and for added radiance, a touch of M.A.C. Strobe Cream .
Who does your hair?
I do my own hair! My hairdresser Mark trims it for me but as for the quiff, that’s down to me. It actually wasn’t planned, it just sort of... happened.
Top style tips for 2010?
I don’t think my beauty tips would go down very well with most women! People are totally freaked out that I don’t wear mascara. I’ve got long eyelashes so I look all dolly bird if I wear it and that just isn’t me.
I love fashion but I don’t follow trends so I think that would be my advice: Don’t wear something just because it’s suddenly ‘in’, or you’ll end up looking the same as everyone else.
Find your own style that suits you and your body shape. It makes no difference to me if bodycon dresses or whatever are ‘in’ because I’d look like a total idiot in one.
What does your perfect day off consist of?
That’s easy. Sleeping and seeing friends. But mostly sleeping.
