I scored my dream job at Rolling Stone when I was in my second year at uni. After interviewing cool Aussie bands, reviewing events, and getting drunk with the stars at countless after parties for three years, I thought it was time to pursue a serious career. So I got a job in advertising. I lasted six months. These days, my life is all about magazines. I even started my own pop culture publication, Corker, to feed my addiction. When I’m not working, I’m partying (usually with free drinks!). Life is sweet.

Festival Review: Harbourlife 2009

Some hardcore dance fans will tell you that this year’s Harbourlife at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair was a disappointment. (It’s tough living up to the reputation of consistently being one of the best festivals of the season.) They’ll complain about the set from K.I.M. of The Presets and moan about The Stanton Warriors losing the crowd.

I am not one of those hardcore dance fans. I loved that The Stanton Warriors played Good Vibrations as the sun was setting over the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. I had an amazing time as the weather finally cooled when Bag Raiders took to the stage with Fun Punch. I even got a kick out of grabbing my drink and running (then hiding) into the corner of the bar as a fight broke out during Martin Solveig’s awesome set.

The atmosphere was fab too. The security guards were even telling sweaty, roided up men to put their shirts back on! Thank you Festival Gods! There were more than enough plastic banana chairs scattered on the grass for when we were too tired to dance, and there were Three Minute Angels wondering around offering five-minute massages.

In fact, the only thing I want to complain about is the girl who asked me if my tan was fake. She thought it looked so real, that she wanted to buy whatever I was using. Even then, she was nice enough. Just a little bit stupid.
