Aussies love reading. So much so, apparently, that we would opt for a great read over a sizzling session in the sack.
A new online survey conducted by Swedish furniture company IKEA shows that the nation secretly yearns for literature more than romance.
Of 1,057 people surveyed, one in three revealed they would prefer to pore over a book than spend time with their lovers if they were given an extra hour in the day.
Only one in five would choose to have more one-on-one time with their partners.
Women, in particular, have a bigger appetite for the written word, with 45 percent claiming that they put reading ahead of sex if they had more free time.
This compares to only 25 percent of men who would snub their lovers over a good book.
While we agree that fictional characters can be hot (Yes, that's you, Mr Darcy and Edward Cullen), but it may be time to call for more passion, less paperback in bed!
