Then don’t waste another minute - get outside and start interval training. The sooner you start this type of exercise, the sooner you’ll see some serious results.
Here’s why you should interval train tonight...
1. You'll burn more calories
The process of sprinting in short bursts, between slow jogging and brisk walking, forces your body into “adaptation response”, leading you to use up far more energy than with regular running.
2. You’ll get fitter faster
It’s a more intense form of cardiovascular exercise so your heart works harder and consequently your stamina and overall fitness will improve at a quicker rate.
3. You’ll tone up faster
Your body (thigh muscles especially) will become firmer in just the first month, if you interval train two to three times a week.
4. You’ll save yourself time
The beauty of this exercise is its intensity, so just 25 minutes of interval training will burn more calories than over an hour of steady jogging.
5. It’s more fun
If running bores you senseless and you struggle to get into a rhythm, the constant change and variation of interval training will make it much more enjoyable. What’s more, you can say goodbye to stitches and cramps. Although it’s generally tougher on your body, you’re always in control and can enjoy the ‘recovery’ period you need between each burst.
6. It’s better for you
If you suffer from nagging injuries or back problems, then interval training is much better for you than repetitive endurance exercise which can cause your body to adopt negative running postures.
